Getting better with motivation

Ever since finishing Hull for the Scream Jam in 2021, I've been fantasizing about what my game next  game would look like, I did not anticipate any of what would follow.

It has been well over two years since then, with countless of projects started, none of which were finished.

Ideas kept flowing, scope increased and subsequently fell out of my abilities, it started to become a huge issue for me.

Making a game solo without budget is a hard feat, you may be good at one aspect of the process, like programming, but everything else is just a burden, which is why I have tried avoiding any of that like the plague with this project.

Animations don't exist, art assets are either stock marketplace assets or free sounds you can find online, most of the programming was done visually with Playmaker and textures simply don't exist beyond color.

I essentially cheated my way through completion, and when the time I had set out for myself ran out, I  did not enjoy the game I had made.

The story feels rushed, the ending is abrupt, and there is just way too little content.

Do I regret any of that? No, not really, because I needed it and if you're thinking about making a game as well, probably you do too.

Making something fast, quick and dirty without being concerned about code quality or looks helps greatly in figuring out why your idea sucks, because no matter how good you think your initial idea is, it will suck in practice.

This project did not make me a better code, but it made me a better designer, and I look forward to work on a newer, slightly larger project.
